Travel better in Kathmandu with the right person

๐Ÿ’ธ

Split costs

A solo traveller in Kathmandu spends about ~$15โ€“35 USD a day. Accommodation, transport, guided tours and day trips all cost less split two ways.

Stay safer

A travel companion means someone knows your plans, can help navigate emergencies, and makes you less of a target in unfamiliar areas of Kathmandu.

๐Ÿ”

Go deeper

The best experiences in Kathmandu (the off-menu restaurant, the dawn hike, the local's favourite spot) are found with a curious companion, not a guidebook.

๐ŸŽฏ

Matched by style

Roammate filters by travel pace, budget range, and interests, so you connect with someone genuinely compatible, not just whoever's in the same hostel dorm.

Meeting someone new in Kathmandu

Agreeing to travel with someone you met online is a real decision. Here is what sits between matching and meeting.

Verified profiles

Travellers can verify their identity with a government-ID and liveness check, and verified accounts carry a badge you can filter on.

Chat before you commit

Message in the app and get a sense of someone first. Nothing obliges you to share contact details, or to meet at all.

Report and block

If someone makes you uncomfortable, report or block them at any point, before or after you have arranged anything.

Emergency SOS

Add emergency contacts before you travel. If something goes wrong in Kathmandu, raise an alert to them from inside the app.

Worth agreeing on before you meet

Namaste & Respect

Greet everyone with "namaste" (palms together). It is the universal greeting in Nepal and opens every interaction with warmth. Remove shoes before entering temples and homes. Walk clockwise around Buddhist stupas and Hindu temples.

Sacred Sites Etiquette

Many temples restrict entry to Hindus only, so respect these boundaries without argument. Do not touch offerings, religious objects, or people's heads. Leather items are prohibited in many temple complexes. Dress modestly with shoulders and knees covered.

Full detail (itineraries, budgets, neighbourhoods and safety) is in the Kathmandu travel guide.
